Lee P. Shulman, MD, FACMG, FACOG

Lee P. Shulman, MD is the Anna Ross Lapham Professor and chief of the Division of Reproductive Genetics in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Dr. Shulman obtained his doctor of medicine degree from Cornell University Medical College, completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at North Shore University Hospital, and completed a fellowship in reproductive genetics at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

A frequent contributor to peer-reviewed and informational literature, with over 120 peer-reviewed articles and over 50 book chapters, Dr. Shulman serves on governmental, foundation, and pharmaceutical advisory boards and is currently the chair of the Board of Trustees of the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is the editor-in-chief of the Yearbook of Obstetrics and Gynecology, associate editor of The Female Patient, and a contributing editor for The Journal of Reproductive Medicine. He also serves on the editorial boards of 2 other journals and as a peer reviewer for 24 journals. His major research focus is in reproductive genetics, contraception, botanical interventions in women's health, and medical education.


Marlene P. Freeman, MD

Marlene P. Freeman, MD is director of the Women's Mental Health Center and associate professor of psychiatry and obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.

Dr. Freeman received her MD from the Northwestern University Medical School, and completed the Harvard Longwood Psychiatry Residency Training Program and a research fellowship in biological psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Dr. Freeman is the vice editor-in-chief of The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Primary Psychiatry and the Editorial Board of PUFA Newsletter. A reviewer for many psychiatric and women's health journals, she is author of almost 50 journal articles and 10 book chapters, and is a very active invited speaker at venues nationwide. Much of her research has focused on postpartum depression and major depressive disorder. For the American Psychiatric Association, she is a committee member of the Major Depressive Disorder Guidelines Revision Workgroup, and chair of the Task Force on Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Dr. Freeman is on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology.


James McGregor, MD, CM

James McGregor, MD, CM is a visiting professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Previously, he was professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Colorado.

Dr. McGregor is a graduate of Dartmouth College and McGill University Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. McGregor's contributions focus on basic, applied, and systems-based approaches to demonstrably improve reproductive health care and outcomes. In particular, his work focuses on infection/inflammation, nutrition, and community-based approaches to improving reproductive outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. He is the author of multiple publications, including articles, books, videos, and Internet resources.


Barry S. Skikne, MD

Barry S. Skikne, MD is professor of internal medicine and director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, Division of Hematology, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City.

Dr. Skikne received an MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed a residency in internal medicine at Johannesburg General Hospital and a fellowship in the Division of Hematology, University of Kansas Medical Center. He is board certified in hematology.

Dr. Skikne is author of almost 100 book chapters and journal articles in publications such as Blood and the American Journal of Hematology, and has made invited presentations on a range of topics at national and international meetings. He has widespread experience in bone marrow transplantation in all areas, including autologous, allogeneic, and matched unrelated donor transplants, and has extensive expertise in iron disorders. Dr. Skikne is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.


Susan Wysocki, RNC, NP, FAANP

Susan Wysocki, RNC, NP, FAANP is the president and CEO of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH). She is a woman's health nurse practitioner certified by the National Certification Corporation and a nationally recognized speaker and opinion leader in the field of women's health.

Ms. Wysocki is a graduate of Boston College School of Nursing and attained her certificate as a nurse practitioner through the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Ms. Wysocki is the editor of multiple publications, including Women's Health Care: A Practical Journal for Nurse Practitioners. She is a contributing editor and Washington, DC bureau chief for Nurse Practitioner World News. Ms. Wysocki also serves on the editorial boards of the American Journal for Nurse Practitioners, The Forum, Dialogues in Contraception, and Contraceptive Technology Update. She has authored numerous articles about issues in women's health and is one of the Ask the Experts for Medscape for nurse practitioners. In 1999, Ms. Wysocki was selected by a national panel of nurse practitioners convened by the Nurse Practitioner Journal for a Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognized 10 nurse practitioners who made a difference in the history of the nurse practitioner movement. In 2000, she was chosen as a charter fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has served as the chair of the National Alliance of Nurse Practitioners and was the founding president of the American College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP). She is a co-founding board member of the Adult Women's Health Alliance, a multidisciplinary organization focused on predictive and preventive health. Ms. Wysocki has testified before Congress, the FDA, and the CDC regarding women's health issues as well as the role of nurse practitioners. She has been quoted in the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Glamour, Essence, Shape, and Rolling Stone, and has also appeared in television and radio broadcasts nationwide, where she has discussed a wide range of women's health issues.
